MY BODY MY CHOICE

"Through these photographs, I wanted to represent that escape from society and the standards that are set. The hand prints are all of the judgments we face and that they do affect us, emotionally and physically, but they are faded as a sign of hope and a representation that they can't control us. My level of intelligence isn't based on what I look like. What I wear doesn't give consent or the right to anyone to tell me how to live my life.

In Macedonia, this is a very common problem especially since there are many people that live that way and care about what society think and it's time for that to change"

I am just a person.

I am not designed to fit in society's standards.

"My body,

My choice"

A very common problem in today's society is the judgment people are faced about their appearance. That very judgment puts a label on a person and sets standards that are never satisfied. This leads to a lot of negativity and it affects everyone, no matter their gender, skin color, beliefs, etc.

We, as a young generation and the future of society, want our voices to be heard and get rid of the unfair rules that society puts in front of us. Our most important message is:

"I have the right to choose what I can do with my body."

Due to all the judgments we face, the risk to develop a mental disorder increases. There are many cases of depression and anxiety that are caused but society's unfair standards which can lead to even worse conditions that puts our health in danger. Many people don't take mental health as seriously as they should be and will only make things worse for a person that is struggling. The most common victims are the young teens that are still learning and will often feel ignored or unworthy which will cause them to lack confidence.
